Alberta's private landowners own and manage approximately one third of the land in Alberta and play a key role in the conservation of natural landscapes and habitat (e.g. wetlands, trees, native grasslands).

When natural lands are managed for their conservation value, these lands help preserve Alberta's biodiversity and ecological integrity and leave places for future generations to visit to appreciate Alberta's natural beauty.

Alberta's land trusts work directly with private landowners to help them conserve their land either through land donations, land purchases, a combination of land donation and land purchase or through a Conservation Easement. For more information on these options please visit the "Donate Your Land" and "Conservation Easements" tabs shown on the left hand side of this webpage.

The Alberta Land Trust Alliance can help guide you to an appropriate land trust(s) who may work with you to conserve your land. Please contact us if you would like help in choosing a land trust.
